We will accept one-act play submissions from October 1, 2017 through December 1, 2017. 


Playwrights must be currently enrolled in a Colorado high school or home school.


The competition will result in ten semi-finalists and three finalists.

The finalists will receive a $250.00 award, a staged reading at the 2018 Colorado New Play Summit in February and two complimentary passes to the Summit.

Teachers of the three finalists will receive $250.00 to purchase books or other teaching tools for their classrooms.

One winning finalist's play will be fully produced as part of the DCPA's summer education program.

Submission must:

a.)   be an original, unpublished one-act play

b.)   be previously unproduced

c.)   be limited to no more than 35 pages - if the manuscript is longer than 35 pages but under 100 pages please e-mail: pelkins-zeglarski@dcpa.org

d.)   be typed in standard play-style format, 12 point Times New Roman Font and page numbered

e.)   be submitted online or postmarked no later than Dec 1, 2017

 

Submission must not:

a.) be a translation or excerpt

b.) have the playwright’s name anywhere on the manuscript or on the document attachment.

Submissions are read blindly. Students submitting online enter contact information on their profile separately from their manuscript. If submitting by mail, please include all of your contact information on a separate sheet of paper.

 

Playwrights must:

a.) be currently enrolled in a Colorado high school or home school

b.) limit submissions to one entry per school year

 

* No revisions will be accepted after submission. Do not send your only copy. Manuscripts will not be returned. No submission fee.
